Joe's kitchen : SOM TUM FIT FOR THE KING

Woke up real late after a Mj session last night. Craving real badly for thai food , decided to give Joe's kitchen at Alexander a try.  Was looking forward to trying out the food as rumored that this cafe is open by the ex- head chef of Parkway Thai restaurant.

Best part of the meal gotta be the Som Tum Mamuang(mango salad) a variation normally made with shredded green papaya but this simple fare of shredded green mango with peanuts was soooooooooooo good that anything after it became pale in comparison.
Rate it 4.5/5

Prawn cake / thai fish cake: standard Thai appetizer. Fact that it is fried. Couldn't very much go wrong . But credits given that they taste fresh .
3/5

Tomyum taley: looks really boring but once we started sipping it. The explosion of seafood and herbs are such heavenly combination. Rate it : 3.5/5

i was so occupied gorging myself half to death that i missed out photos of the 3 best dishes:0

Yum Woon Sen: was suppose to be served warm. The salad came cold and well prepared before hand. Tad disappointing. 1/5

Red curry chicken: overpowering coconut milk taste. Chicken did nt absorb much of the marination. 1/5

Pad Krapow moo(basil pork) : taste too much like a chinese dish went wrong. No basil taste. Very forgettable. 1/5

Nam pla(thai style): mediocre . Fish tasted too fishy. Stock used was ok only, Nothing to shout about .
2/5

Garlic fried chicken: crispy and fried to perfection. Batter is to die for but it could be a little salty for the faint-hearted. Rate: 3.5/5

Stir fry baby kailan: worst of all the dishes. Veg tasted real bland and barely cooked. Do not order this. Rate: 0/5

Total damage came to $140 for 4 pax. Pretty reasonable. But we probably ordered more than we could eat.

Would I return. Most probably not as there are better thai food found in Sg.

My foodie trail trekers & me:> Thanks for loving food with me:>
